Bobby Wheat – Preaching
Bobby Wheat was raised in Andrews, TX. He completed primary and secondary education there as well. Then Bobby attended Abilene Christian University where he first majored in Industrial Education. Nancy Mitchell and Bobby met and married while students there. They departed for the mission field of Zimbabwe, Africa shortly after graduation in 1981. They returned in 1984 and Bobby completed a master’s degree in Biblical Studies also at Abilene Christian University. He preached in Trent, TX and then Beaver, OK. In 1992, they returned to Zimbabwe where they planted churches and trained preachers until 1996. Since returning to the States, Bobby worked seven years in residential construction, preached for churches in Oklahoma, Kansas, Tennessee, and served for one year as Missionary-In-Residence at Freed-Hardeman University. The Wheats came to Lake Shore Drive in August, 2012, and Bobby began serving as preaching minister in September, 2013. Nancy and Bobby’s three children are grown, married, faithful in service to the Lord, and they have provided them with eight beautiful grandchildren.
Dale Sheehy – Youth & Family
Dale Sheehy was born in Coldwater, Mississippi. As a preacher’s kid he has lived in Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. He attended Harding University where he earned a B.A. in Youth & Family Ministry. He has been in youth & family ministry since 1998 working with churches in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. Dale and his family moved to Waco in 2008 to begin working with Lake Shore. Dale & his wife Kim met working at Camp Wyldewood in Searcy, AR and have been married since 1994. They have twins, Hannah and Brenden.
Ernie Christie – Associate Minister
Ernie Christie was born in Pampa, Texas in 1943. He graduated from Pampa High School, graduated from Frank Phillips College, attended Texas Tech University, and graduated from Brown Trail School of Preaching. He is married to Judith Shuler Christie (1965), and they are blessed with two children along with their spouses and five grandchildren, one of which is married. He has preached in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Eastland, TX, and Waco. He served as the pulpit minister for 28 years at Lake Shore. Since 2013 he has served in a support role at Lake Shore and as a volunteer chaplain at both hospitals in Waco.
Jeff Blackmon was born in upstate New York but raised in Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from Methodist University, served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and worked for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, GA for 31 years. He married Becky Blackmon in 1972. They are the parents of two children and five grandchildren. He has served as a deacon at the Forest Park Church of Christ in Forest Park, GA and also in Fayetteville, GA. Jeff retired in 2003 and now works part time at a bank in McGregor, TX.
Zandy Goode was born in western Texas and moved to Waco in 1985. He is an elder for the Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ. Carol B Goode is his wife of a life time. Carol and Zandy have three children and their first service to the Lord was to ground their children in the Lord. Zandy loves the Church and appreciates the opportunity to serve as an elder. Zandy & Carol operate a farm and own a fertilizer brokerage firm.
Max Burnham grew up in Texarkana, Texas. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in mechanical engineering, he joined the DuPont Company at Victoria, Texas. Over the next 40 years he held a number of management positions with DuPont in Texas, Delaware, South Carolina, and Maryland. After his retirement in 2007 he and Tanya continued to live in Maryland until they relocated to Waco, Texas in 2017. He has been a Christian since he was baptized by his father in 1958. He and Tanya have three adult children and seven grandchildren from 9 to 15 years old. He previously served as a deacon in Wilmington, Delaware and as an elder in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Joe was born and raised in Waco, and attended Abilene Christian University, earning a BA in Music. Joe and Lori met and married while in college, and attended wonderful Churches of Christ in Abilene, McKinney, and Jacksboro before moving back to Waco permanently in 2008. They have been very happily married since 1995 and enjoy three great daughters. Lori homeschools all three, while Joe enjoys a much easier job as a Waco Police Officer. Joe helps coordinate the Lads To Leaders program, along with Chris Connor and Dale Sheehy.
Joe Avery – Worship & Fellowship
Joe Avery is the deacon responsible for the public worship assignments and fellowship planning. He is married to Kathy and has a daughter, Rachel. He is a retired school counselor and worked in that capacity in the Texas prison system.
Zane Christian – Children’s Education
Zane was born and raised on a family run dairy farm between Hamilton and Hico, TX. His family faithfully attended church services at their local congregation throughout his time at home. He attended Tarleton State University and obtained degrees in Economics and Agribusiness. He now owns an independent financial planning practice and multiple other businesses in Waco. Zane currently lives in China Spring, TX with his wife, Mellisa, and their children, Myla and Ryker. Zane and Mellisa have attended and worked with the church at Lakeshore Drive for over 10 years and he has served as the deacon over youth education since 2019.
Chris Conner was born in Waco, TX and grew up in Bosqueville. He attended Texas Tech University and earned a degree in exercise and sports science. He then attended MCC, where he received his associates degree for Physical Therapist Assistant. He is married to Mandy Conner, and they have two daughters, Edie and Josie. He works as a PTA at St. Catherine’s.
Joe Dickinson – Communications & Children’s Education
Joe Dickinson is the deacon responsible for the communication of church sponsored events and assists Zane Christian with Children’s Education. He is married to Leslie and they have 3 children. Joe is employed as a professional engineer.
Bob Gwin – Building & Grounds
Joe was born in Waco TX and was the last of three children. He attended Southwest Texas State University. He met his wife Patricia at Crestview Church of Christ in Waco. Patricia is currently a Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force Reserves. Joe retired from McClean County as a probation officer. He now serves as a security officer for Baylor Police Department. Joe and Patricia have two daughters.
Trent Gardner – Technology
Trent Gardner was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX. He graduated from Pascal high school. He went on to graduate from Tarleton State University. He married his lovely wife, Susan, in 2002. Trent and Susan have four wonderful children. Trent does computer programming for a living.
